Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent Far Cry game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing violence and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those qualities.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by having a new setting and ensemble in every instalment.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their constant trust and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of society through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our mutual bold, visionary approach to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
