The President Invites Relatives of Shot Military Members to the White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist law enforcement in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
